This pattern calls for stretchy, easily blockable yarn like merino wool 50g of aran weight and approx 25-30g of dk weight, buttons.
You will need 4mm and 3.25mm knitting needles (circular are ideal IMO), 4mm crochet hook or additional needle, sewing needle and needle holder.
