Cau Cau Surfer
Cau Cau Surfer was created for a little girl to wear to the beach. This shirt will also look very nice as an apron over the Easter Sunday dress. The yarn Cau Cau, hand dyed in Chile by Araucania, is 60% cotton 40% silk which will feel and look luxurious. The finished garment is very practical as a shirt, by itself or layered, and as an apron to protect while playing in the sandbox.
This is a perfect project for the beginning knitter. If you know how to knit and purl stitches you will succeed creating the Cau Cau surfer. The crocheted edge is requires knowledge of the single chain and chain stitches.
The sizes are loose fitting to be able to layer this over other garments. So choose the next smaller size if you want to make this as a fitting shirt, or summer dress.
Three skeins of the Cau Cau yarn are sufficient to knit the three smaller sizes. For the 2-3 year size I would recommend to purchase a fourth skein, just to be sure. You can always create a simple matching headband from the left over yarn using the bodice pattern over 8 - 10 stitches.
The pattern is also now available in German.
Die Deutsche Version ist jetzt auch erhaeltlich! Viel Spass beim Stricken.
