The story behind the sweater ’Caught in the Knit’ unfolds between the sky and the sea. A fantasy in yarn about everything you might catch in the big fishing net: Fish, buoys, ocean waste and a single lobster. But the knitting techniques tell their own stories as well. As a celebration of sailor knit, the sweater gathers a patchwork of techniques from the diverse world of seafaring. Some are insideout while others are reinterpreted.

I recommend that you collect all your scrap yarn, or in another way are creative in getting your yarn. The sweater can easily be composed of other colors and qualities, and in that way become even more personal. Furthermore, I recommend you set perfectionism a bit aside while working on this sweater, due to the patchwork look small mistakes won ́t be very visible and will just appear charming and as a part of the expression.

Size: One size

Circumference: The sweater has a circumference of approx. 114 cm. It fits size 36-42. If you want another size or fit I recommend creativity. You can e.g.. cut a bit of the width and length or you use larger or smaller size needles. Or you can knit a wedge and sew it along the side seam and sleeve to make the larger size.

Length: 60 cm

Gauge: 14 sts = 10 cm, or as close to as possible.

When working with many different yarns it can be difficult to match the exact stitch count, so a small variation in the passage between the different techniques is ok.

Suggested needles: 4mm & 6mm double pointed needles, 6mm (40 cm) and 5mm (60 cm) circular needle, cable needle
