CBS

CBS is a Complex-But-Simple cowl with cables, lace, stranded colourwork, crochet, knittng in multiple directions, and colour blocking. The stranded colourwork is worked in the round, then continues to the block of main checkerboard lace. Stitches are picked up along the colourwork CO and then the block of contrast colour lace is worked. The block of contrast colour cables is worked flat and perpendicular to the rest of the cowl, joining each of end of the cowl. The gridded little sunshine motifs in the lace checkerboard comprise the main colourblock, slightly overwhelming the hazy and watery colourblock, and plays on the fact that if it’s foggy and cold in St. John’s, it’s warm and sunny in CBS … it’s almost always sunny in CBS!

CBS is pattern #11 of Landed, Volume 1: The Avalon, Timeless Lace and Stranded Knitting Patterns for the Adventurous Handknitter.
