Cedrus Libani
The socks are worked in the round from the top down. Instructions are given for working the socks on 4 or 5 double pointed needles. However, the pattern can easily be adapted for knitting on 2 circular needles, or on 1 circular needle, using magic loop. The leg pattern continues down the heel.
Cedrus libani (common name Cedar of Lebanon) is the inspiration for this design. It is not supposed to be hardy to our area, but our experience in the last 10 years suggests that at least some cultivars or subspecies are fully hardy here. Unfortunately, last year’s severe weather and ice storm took its toll on our cedrus, but they are coming back nicely.
For an average size sock (about a ladies size 8) 2 skeins of yarn were used. For larger socks, an additional skein may be required.
The 1/1 cables can be worked without a cable needle, if desired.
Both charts as well as written instructions are provided.
