Celeste's Garden Square
This year, one of my favorite things to make has been afghan squares. I can’t get enough of them. Funnily enough, I had never made one before 2018. With that in mind, I’d like to introduce you to Celeste’s Garden.
I used two of my favorite stitches, v-sts and puffs, that are used both in the circle beginning and after it’s squared. These are the only special stitches and are quite easy to master, even if you’d never done them before. Ordinary dc rounds are placed between the v-sts and puffs to even it out a little bit.
While making Celeste’s Garden, I had something of a brilliant idea, if I say so myself. I am among those who love how color changes look but can’t stand weaving in ends. So why not use two self-striping cakes and carry the yarn up the back? It worked surprisingly well and I loved the gradual shift of stripes. I will definitely be doing more of this. But for those of you who prefer to fasten off after every row, never fear; I have instructions for both methods in the pattern.
I hope you enjoy this pattern and if you have any questions/comments/concerns, don’t hesitate to contact me through Ravelry or Facebook. I’d love to hear from you!
