“Celestial Hemispheres” is one of my favorite designs. My customers love it too! This hat consists of several parts: the rectangular in the middle, two side semicircular and a border. I offer the beanie in two sizes: M-size beanie fits head ≈22” circumference and ≈7.5” depth. L-size beanie fits head ≈24” circumference and ≈8” depth. The depth of the hat can be slightly change by making the border shorter, but in general, the proportions will be preserved. Usually one of this sizes works for an adult woman.
If you want to make a hat for a girl yourself, try using a thin thread. Here are some more crocheting tips:
- Use fingering (or light fingering) yarn to make this hat. I used Begonia YarnArt (165 - 175 yards (151 - 160 m)).
- Use a 2 mm hook (or less). Stitches should be close. Perhaps more close than you usually do.
- Start crocheting from the middle of the beanie. It should mutch with the gauge! If necessary, take another yarn or hook size.
- Something else about the middle part. You should not make it shorter/longer than indicated in the pattern. Otherwise you will not be able to correctly attach the semicircular parts and the sides will be buckled.
- Be sure to wet the finished product and dry it on a dummy (or a ball that matches the size of the head).
