R33 Celia’s Blankie

The pattern price includes two formats: a tablet/computer-friendly version and a booklet-ready printable version.

However, if you prefer a printed version it is available at the Cottage Creations website.

Materials and size:

  • Yarn? The sky is the limit on this one. Do you like washing a wool blanket by hand, then laying it flat to dry? Or do you need to have a blanket that can be thrown in the washer or dryer? Only you can answer that question.
  • I knit three blankies from wool. I used 800 yds for my first. Finished, it measured approximately 22” x 30”; I used 2000 yds for my second – it measured 28z’ x 38”, and 2400 yds for the third. It measured 40” x 40”.
  • You are in total control of the finished measurement of your Blankie. I’d suggest purchasing 1000 yards for an infant blankie and1400 for one a bit larger.
  • 6, #7, or #8 knitting needle, straight or circular

  • tapestry needle

Gauge: Anywhere from 4 st = 1” to 5 sts = 1”, Knitters choice.

Skill level: Advanced beginner/intermediate

This Blankie/afghan is a spin-off of the Rambling Rows Afghan. The advantage it has over the original is that a knitter can control the sizing so easily. Handpainted yarn works well in this design, as well as using just one color. It is as addictive as the Rambling Rows Afghan.

Carol says, “You may knit the blankie from fingering, sport or worsted weight yarn. By knitting the first square you can easily determine just how many squares you’ll need to knit to attain a desired size. You can use a circular, straight, or even double point needles in suggested size for the yarn you choose.”

Errata: Page 7: Under Diagram 4 series. Change the numbers. Row 3 should be Row 2, Row 2 should be Row 1.
