A hot water bottle cover knitted in aran yarn (which knits up quickly so still time to make a couple for Christmas presents).

The front has a 24 stitch Celtic cable pattern down the middle. The different stitches look a bit complicated at first if you haven’t done much cable knitting before, but it soon starts to make sense.

The back is knitted in two pieces to give a gap for inserting the bottle.

Instructions for the neck are given for knitting flat (with a seam) or in the round.

The cover takes one 100g (200m/ 220yd) ball of yarn.
