Celtic Hot Pad
This pattern is for a hot pad or tea pot stand.
Made in chunky/bulky weight cotton it comes out about 7 ins across but made in DK /light worsted it would measure just over 5 ins across which would be suitable for a small tea pot. But since chunky/bulky weight yarn can vary a lot the exact size may depend on the yarn.
It could be made in one colour but looks best in five colours.
I used “Yarn and Colors Super Must-Have” chunky yarn in Raspberry, Cantaloupe, Sunglow, Peony Leaf and Navy Blue.
It uses less than 10g of the chunky cotton I chose for four of the colours and less than 20 g for the interweaving piece.
I used a 4.5mm hook, but it helped to use a 5mm hook for the starting chain. If you crochet loosely you might need smaller hooks.
I found someone had added a couple of suggested yarns but neither were a good match for what I used so I removed them. The Knit Picks Billow is a good match for what I used and appears to come in a good range of plain colours.
