Celtic Key Bunnet
A Bunnet is an old Scots work for a warm hat.
It is knitted in the round, using the Mosaic technique and has a twisted rib. The Bunnet is covered with a Celtic Key design, found on many of the ancient carved stones here in the Highlands of Scotland.
I have designed this hat to help raise funds for our volunteer-run, non-profit museum of Celtic Art. All proceeds from the sale of the pattern will go to Groam House Museum, Rosemarkie.
The hat will fit an adult head, sized 21 inches(53cms) with plenty of stretch. I knitted it on 3.75 mm/US5 circular needles using DK yarn dyed locally by www.ripplescrafts.com. The US yarn equivalent would be a heavy Sport or light Worsted.
It can easily be resized by increasing or decreasing the needle size, or taking out sections of the 10 stitch pattern repeat.
