This is not for the timid.

The pattern is for a rectangular shawl. The main design is a large (160 stitches by 232 rows), irregular, non-repeating Celtic knot worked as a cable. There is also a second, smaller (58 stitches by 63 rows) cable design.

The main cable uses my method of creating a raised horizontal strand.

I strongly recommend using 17 stitch markers to help track your location in the chart.

The sample required approximately 1720 yards (1573m) of a 2-ply, lace-weight wool and 2 cones - 622 yds (568m) - of Habu’s N-69 Copper Bamboo.

The intarsia effect was created by dropping the Copper Bamboo thread and working the cable strands using only the background wool. The design can also be worked as intarsia cables or using flat intarsia.

The pattern includes basic instructions for the shawl, yarn requirements, an explanation of the technique used for the horizontal strands, 5 pages of charts, and some images showing close-ups how the horizontal strands are worked.
