A distinctive and eye-catching slouch hat design with a unique colorwork Celtic knot design in the brim. Lovely details include a dotted purl trim and a row of French knots. The slouchy shape and relaxed fit has plenty of room for a hair clip and is flattering on almost everyone.

This hat is knitted from the bottom up on a circular needle, switching to larger size needles for the colorwork section with increases to form the slouch shape. Decreases require DPN’s or magic loop method. French knots are added with yarn and a tapestry needle after the hat is completed. Gauge is important in this pattern, so be sure to swatch and meet gauge. Final blocked circumference is 21.8 inches 55.5 cm.

Note that this hat fits heads from 22 - 23 inches / 56 - 58 cm. The fit is relaxed. If a closer fit is desired, a lining of polar fleece or other stretchy material can be sewn in.

I encourage knitters to use yarn from your stash. The most of one color that is needed is a 100 gram skein of Color B; all the other colors require only 50 grams at most, with Color C needing the least. Stick with non-superwash wool and wool blend yarns for best results.
