Sneachta is the Irish word for snow. The Trinity Stitches around the cuff edge add the illusion of falling snow on this Christmas Stocking. This detail is worked flat before finishing the cuff in the round. The Trinity Stitch is then echoed down the body of the stocking.

The Trinity (aka Blackberry) Stitch is the only stitch which cannot be reproduced by machinery and one of the hallmarks of Aran hand knit items. I was first taught the Trinity Stitch by Irish Knitwear Designer Edel MacBride, whose promotion of traditional Aran knitting inspired this pattern.

This pattern uses approximately 1.5 skeins of worsted weight wool.

Pattern size can be adjusted using different yarn weights and needle sizes.
