Celtic Twilight Cushion Cover
The Celtic Twilight Throw Blanket now has a matching cushion cover! Harmonize your couch cushions with this engaging cable motif for an 18” square cushion--or slightly larger--with 2 1” (2.5cm) buttons or 1 5/8” (4cm) toggles.
You may have a worn cushion cover you wish to replace with a cover that can be removed for washing occasionally. Or, you may have purchased a cushion without a removable cover and wish to protect it; in this case, it’s best to find a cushion with a smooth fabric, like satin, in a dark colour.
A cabled cushion cover is a fairly quick knit, and with a sturdy aran-weight yarn, the cover will last a very long time and earn many compliments--and could also make an appreciated gift! Your cover should be 1” smaller per side than the cushion so that it fits snugly but is not see-through. So, aim for a 17” x 17” cover. This negative ease accounts for measuring a stuffed cushion and a flat cover.
The cover will fit a 20” cushion if the flap is long enough, so aim for a 4” flap at least.
An Aran weight yarn that doesn’t split easily in a solid, heathered, or tweed shade works best. A bit less than 3.5 hanks of Briggs & Little Tuffy were used for the cushion cover in the photos.
