⭐️ Finished measurements (approx.): Wingspan - 64”, Depth - 16”
⭐️ Yarn: 600-650 yds of DK weight (3) yarn (The tighter the twist, the closer you’ll get to gauge)
The sample uses High Desert Yarn’s “Cloudcroft DK” superwash merino in Wild Blue - 3 hanks (available on Etsy)
A note about the yarn: Cloudcroft has a tight twist so you’ll need approx. 560 yds to complete the shawl. A second sample was made in Scheepjes “River-Washed” which required more yarn because of the halo. The resulting shawl was slightly larger.
⭐️ Hook: US size H-8 (5mm) or size needed for gauge
⭐️ Skill level: Advanced beginner/Intermediate because of the number of stitches and techniques used
⭐️ Stitches used: Slip stitch, chain, single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, treble crochet, cluster, picot
⭐️ Construction: First, a modified center granny square is worked. Two wings, one on either side of the square, are worked out to create the wingspan. The shawl is finished off with a border along the bottom edges of the shawl.
⭐️ The premium PDF for the crochet shawl pattern includes: Detailed written instructions, a schematic for critical measurements, a crochet chart for the center square and a graphic to show stitch counts for the border foundation round.
