This bottom-up cabled crop top pattern includes different cables and 2x2 ribbing. The loose, boxy fit, deep armholes, and easy to read cables will have you creating a number of crops to layer over different outfits all year long. This pattern is perfect for any body, any yarn, and may be best for those who have worked cables before or don’t mind trusting the process.

Sizes
This pattern is written to meet the finished measurements in the chart provided below, with finished bust sizes: 35.5, 40, 44 (48, 51.5, 56, 60)64, 67.5, 72, 76“/89.5, 102, 112 (122, 130, 146.5, 152.5)163, 171, 183, 193.5cm.

The sample was knit to about 12”/31cm of positive ease (larger than my body measurements) at my full bust. With previous garments, I have found through testers and my own samples, that this pattern would look best with anywhere between 8-12”/21-31cm of positive ease.

Materials
You will need at least seven stitch markers and one BOR marker, waste yarn or extra needles to hold live stitches, cable needle, darning needle, scissors, measuring tape, and your super amazing body.

Techniques
You will need to know how to pick up stitches, knit in the round, purl, increase, decrease, cable, hold stitches, complete a sewn bind-off, block, weave in ends, and have fun.

Suggested Yarn
420 from thelittlewolfknits: 100% superwash merino, light DK weight 8-ply, 274yd/250m per 100g.

The samples used two skeins of Chocolate Almond Butter Balls on 420, and Classic on 420.
Any DK weight (or fingering and lace weight held together) yarn should work – just make sure to adjust to get gauge. Alternatives include: Knit Picks Swish, Knit Picks Stroll and Aloft

Color Suggestions
Like I said, this pattern is perfect for any yarn, and can be made with a tonal or variegated AND it would make amazing scrappy project. Have random odds and ends lying around? Use them for a fun stripey version!

Suggested Needles
Main Needle: US 6 (4mm) circular needle
But use whatever needle you need to achieve gauge!

Gauge
20 sts x 24 rows = 4”/10cm 2x2 rib knit in the round and blocked with your main needle. For my cables, one full repeat of the center chart (18 stitch center cable section) is measuring 3.5”/9cm wide by 4”/10cm tall. When swatching, remember to cast on more stitches than you’re intending to measure so that you can get an accurate measurement (the end and beginning stitches tend to be looser). I recommend using this tutorial to start and finish the swatch for the most accurate measurements.

Each additional 1”/2.5cm of length to the body will require approximately an additional 28, 31, 34 (46, 50, 54, 58)75, 78, 83, 88yds/25, 28, 31 (43, 46, 49, 53)68, 71, 75, 81m.

However, recognize that some of these yardages just barely dip into the next skein up, and since my skeins are usually over 100g, I got away with 2 skeins on the 3rd size, however play yarn chicken at your own risk!
