This shawl begins with 5 stitches and gradually grows by beginning each right side row with increases and each wrong side with a decrease. Interspersed at regular intervals is a contrasting garter ridge with a series of short rows at one end, creating a lacy diamond wedge. A long, graceful spiral is the result of using this combination of increases, decreases and wedges.

This construction lends itself to customization, allowing the knitter to stop anywhere along the way, or continue until the yarn runs out.

Fingering weight yarn (7-7.5 st per inch) is recommended:
450 yds of color A, 110 yds of color B

The shawl is intentionally knit on larger needles than recommended by the yarn, in order to produce a slightly loose, drapey fabric. Please consider this when selecting yarn.

For the shawl pictured, 2 skeins of Peppino (The Yarns of Rhichard Devrieze) and 1 skein of Koigu KPPPM were used.
