Ceres is a beautiful shawl, knitted bottom up in DK yarn. It is named after the Roman goddess of harvest, grain and motherly love. The patterns used in this design remind us of endless fields of wheat and grains ready to be harvested. The cable and lace pattern that I created for this design produces heart-like shapes.
Yarn: El Robledal de la Santa Organic DK 100% wool, 266 meters (221 yards)/ 100g (3.53 oz); 3 skeins; sample shown in Perlato colorway;
Or: approx. 798- 850 meters/ 873- 930 yards of DK yarn;
Gauge: 19 sts and 28 rows in Stockinette Stitch, blocked;
Needles: 4.5 mm/ US7 80 cm (32”) or longer circular needles or needle size to obtain the gauge;
Other: tapestry needle to weave in loose ends, cable needle (optional);
Measurements: approx. 83 cm/ 32.5” long across bind off edge, 141 cm/ 55.5” long measured from cast on edge to the top and 160 cm/ 53” across top edge, after blocking.
