Chain Link Boot Cuffs
These beautifully intricate boot cuffs are the perfect project for advanced knitters. Knit stitch chains cross and interlock on a mesh background. The complexity of the stitches engages the mind, and the 5 sizes mean you can make them to be worn with either ankle or calf high boots. These Boot Cuffs match my Chain Link Mitts, Chain Link Hat, and upcoming Chain Link Cowl and Chain Link Socks patterns. Why not make a whole outfit?
Yarn: DK weight, approx. 100-241 yds (91.5-220 m).
Yardage per size and chosen length–XS: 100 yds (91.5 m) or 134 yds (122.5 m). Small: 120 yds (110 m) or 161 yds (147 m). Medium: 140 yds (128 m ) or 187 yds (171 m). Large: 160 yds (146 m) or 214 yds (196 m). XL: 180 yds (164.5 m) or 241 yds (220 m).
Shown in: Malabrigo Silky Merino, 51% silk / 49% Merino Wool. 150 yds (137 m) per skein. One skein (140 yds/128 m) used.
Needles: one set U.S. size 6 (4.0 mm) double pointed needles, or size needed to obtain gauge. (Circular needles can be substituted for those who prefer the magic circle method.)
Optional extra needles: U.S. Size 5 (3.75 mm) or U.S. Size 4 (3.5 mm) double pointed needles (DPNs) for ribbing. I personally don’t use a smaller needle for ribbing, and the samples shown don’t use one, but I know a lot of knitters prefer to use a smaller ribbing needle.
Gauge: 24 stitches and 34 rows in chain link pattern, worked in the round and unblocked = 4 in. x 4 in (10 cm x 10 cm).
Notions: cable needle, locking stitch marker, tapestry needle.
