In my desire to have a really warm pair of gloves in a style that would be simple but not plain, I came up with the idea of using a slipped-stitch pattern in a single colour. The twisted braid cuff combines with the subtly textured palm in eye of partridge stitch to give interest and a double layer of warmth.

Level: Intermediate.

Skills required: Long-tail cast on, basic increases and decreases, ability to follow slipped stitch pattern

Instruction type: Entirely written, no charts.

Construction: Worked from cuff to fingertips with a gusset thumb. The pattern is written generically so as to accommodate all small circumference techniques: dpns/ magic loop/ 2 circulars, both one at a time and two at a time.

Yarn: Chain Mail requires about 185 yards of DK weight yarn

Size: 8” circumference

Many thanks to my testers for their feedback.
