These instructions provide the recipe for you to make your own chair (loveseat, sofa) cover by measuring your chair (loveseat, sofa), plugging the measurements into some formulas, completing some calculations and knitting! Measurements can be taken via US or metric standards.

The covers are worked entirely in garter stitch. The chair cover is made seamlessly. The loveseat and sofa covers can be worked either seamlessly (if you have a long enough cable needle) or seamed. While intended for armed chairs (loveseats, sofas), covers can be made for unarmed chairs, car seats or bench seats by omitting the arm flaps.

The yarn is held double throughout to make a thick, durable and repairable fabric. By my calculations, the two strands together give a yarn that falls between the bulky and super bulky weight categories.

Techniques: swatching, casting-on, binding-off, working garter stitch flat, increasing, decreasing, picking-up stitches (if making arm flaps), making I-cord (if knitting your own straps/cords), joining yarn, weaving in ends.

The pattern is a seven page PDF, only three pages of which really need to be printed out to work the pattern. The remaining pages contain the pattern description, a materials list, diagrams and photos.

This pattern has not been test-knitted because, frankly, people don’t want to test-knit a sofa cover. :)
