Le châle Alma est lié à la naissance de ma fille, d’où son nom. Il est né en même temps qu’elle, mon premier design et mon premier enfant, il porte donc en lui cette valeur symbolique.
C’est un châle triangulaire, il se tricote avec deux laines différentes, tricotées seules et ensemble, pour jouer sur la palette de textures qu’elles peuvent offrir, et sur les nuances colorées. L’alternance de points texturés, côtes et jours rythme le tricot.
Malgré la variété des points ce modèle est accessible aux débutants et supporte les erreurs.

• Rico design / Essentials merino plus tweed dk (125m /50g) / coloris 001/ 300g soit 750m

• Drops / Brushed Alpaca Silk (140m /25g) / couleur 1 / 125g soit 715m

J’ai utilisé une laine DK et un fil d’alpaga et soie, aisément remplaçable par un fil mohair.
Toutefois, un fil lace ou fingering peut de la même façon être employé.

Pour le choix des couleurs, le camaïeu de ma version peut être remplacé par une association de deux couleurs, qui s’harmoniseront ensemble. (Certaines parties sont tricotées avec les deux fils).

Echantillon:
Comme il s’agit d’un châle, l’échantillon est surtout utile pour faire votre choix de laine, et observer leur rendu tricoté seul et ensemble.
Un échantillon différent pourrait toutefois impliquer une dimension finale différentes et/ou un métrage nécessaire différent.

Alma Shawl is closely related to the birth of my daughter, Alma. Both were created and born in the same time and therefore this shawl carries a strong symbolic value.
It is a triangle shaped shawl, knitted with two different yarns, worked alone and together to play on the different textures and colors. these ever changing textured patterns, ribs and littles holes will be giving rhythm to your knit.
Despite the large variety of textured patterns, this shawl is accessible to beginners, it can stand little mistakes.

Suggested yarns

• Rico design / Essentials merino plus tweed dk (125m/136yds per 50g) / color 001 I used about 300g so 750m (820 yards)

• Drops / Brushed Alpaca Silk (140m / 153 yds per 25g) / couleur 1 I used about 125g so 715m (780 yards)

I used a DK yarn and an Alpaca and silk yarn but this one can easily be replaced by mohair.
Nonetheless, if you prefer less fluffy knits, you could go for lace or fingering yarn if you wished.
Concerning the color choice, you could go for a tone-on-tone version but also choose a very contrasting combo and see how the colors work together. (Note that some parts will be worked with both colors held together).

Gauge and swatch
Since we are making a shawl, the swatch only really matters to check your choice of yarns and have a first impression on how it looks together or alone.
However, keep in mind that if you have a different gauge, it might impacts the final dimensions and/or meterage of your work.
