This pattern looks equally good in straight and negative colors. You can use solid yarn for the background, and solid/gradient/printed speckled yarn for chameleons.

Materials:
70-80g (280 – 320m) of fingering weight yarn total, in two contrasting colors.
Circular needles size US 0-2
Tapestry needle and some yarn for embroidery
stitch markers, scarp yarn

Gauge and size: 36 sts x 40 rows = 10 cm .
Mitts measure 20cm tall by 10cm wide laying flat.
