Chancery
Chancery-Sampler Socks for “on the day of judgment” by Heatherly Walker
Inspired by the Charles Dickens Book Bleak House. Chancery court was known for its stagnant procedures. It ate up the lives of those involved. Every one waited for the day there would be a final judgment in their case and they could move on with their lives.
Each stitch pattern represents a specific character who is involved in the Chancery Court or appears there.
This is one of my favourite books. You can listen to it on Craft-Lit via subscriber only content. Craft-Lit’s Heather Ordover shares historical and cultural references made in the book along with some other great facts which make the “reading” of this book richer and deeper.
