In the beginning of my shawl-knitting adventures I came to the heart-breaking conclusion that long rows make me dislike my knitting. Unfortunately my craving for knitwear for my neck was not diminished. There was only one thing to do: designing my own. Long like a scarf, deep like a shawl… with shorter rows. It’s a wrap! I’ve loved brioche ever since the first cowl I’ve knit. This wrap introduces a collection of brioche variations from simple brioche to three-colour stockinette brioche. Designed in 4 colours, it will look great in 2 colours or up to 43! A random number generator (i.e. chance) helped me mix and match stitches and colours. The Chances Wrap was born.

Construction notes
The wrap is knit on the bias from the left to the right end and shaped with short rows. The pattern is written for 4 colours but can be easily adapted to as few as 2 and as many as 43 colors. Should you decide to change the number of colours you use, instructions for when to break the yarn will no longer be relevant.

Something to make you happy: DO NOT WEAVE IN ENDS AS YOU GO! Despite the many colour changes, you will only weave in four ends. You will find a really neat way to deal with the rest of the ends in the finishing part of the pattern.

The wrap is a succession of sections of:

• one colour brioche
• one colour stockinette brioche RS & WS - two colour brioche
• two colour stockinette brioche RS & WS - three colour stockinette brioche RS

and has an applied i-cord edging.

Each of these sections is detailed row by row and stitch by stitch. If you struggle with brioche stitches there are wonderful tutorial videos on youtube that you can access for free.
