Change the graphic
“Change the graphic” is a tee with classic fit (~5% positive ease at the bust) and decorative print at the yoke. It is knit mainly top-down in the round with minimal seaming and purling.
Start with circular yoke (flat sideways in garter stitch, using short-rows for shaping and creating the print). Then pick up sts from the yoke, raise the back for a better fit and separate for the body & sleeves. Knit the body top-down in the round. Basic instructions assume A-line shaping fit, but there is additional guidance on straight body / tailored fit. In addition, adult sizes №3-14 have instructions for horizontal bust darts (optional, but highly recommended for better fit).
Neckline and cuffs are decorated with an I-cord (applied along the neck) – either in main or contrast color, based on personal preference. Hem is worked in Garter with intarsia.
YARN: heavy fingering or sport-weight yarn in 2 contrast colors. The yardage for your size in both color-blocking options is provided in the table below. You can choose for summer/winter yarn content:
● Summer content (cotton/silk/ linen) 250-280 /273-306 yds per 100g/3.5oz. if you choose linen, slightly reduce the number of rows in the body, since it tends to sag more than other yarns.
● Winter content (merino etc.) ~280-300m/306-330yds per 100g/3.5oz.
The sample was knit out of 100% cotton Catania Schachenmayr (125m/137yds per 50g/1.75oz)
NEEDLES:
● Main: 3.5mm/US4 (or size to get stockinette gauge) circulars on a 40-100cm/16-40” cable, depending on the size worked + DPNs for the sleeves, if you prefer them to magic loop (for magic loop take 1 size larger needles);
● Smaller: 3mm/US2.5 (or size to get garter gauge) 60 cm/24” circulars (or straights) for the yoke and same cable length as the main ones for the I-cords.
GAUGE (PER 1010CM/ 44” AFTER WET-BLOCKING)
● Stockinette: 24 stitches by 34 rows – on main needles;
● Garter stitch: 22 stitches by 54 rows – on smaller needles.
