The Changing Chevrons Baby Blanket is a delightful take on the traditional striped chevron blanket. The colors change gradually with this new striping pattern, and the addition of ch-1 spaces creates a new look in a crochet standard. The majority of the blanket is worked in dc, but you will need to know sc, hdc, dc, and tr for rows at either end; these stitches make the ends of the blanket flat instead of rippled.
This blanket is versatile and easy to adjust for your own taste. Instructions are included in the foundation row for adjusting the width based on the multiple of the pattern. A chart at the end of the pattern also gives two different suggestions on how to lengthen the blanket as well. Finally, optional border instructions give you the choice to add a splash of color around the edge.
The Changing Chevrons Baby Blanket is the January installment of the 2018 Sunshine Charlotte Crochet ALong, which features a different baby blanket pattern each month. This year’s CAL projects are meant to be donated to crochet charities. I’m featuring a different charity each month on my blog, but you can also donate to the charity of your choice. I design and donate these baby blankets in memory of my daughter Charlotte, who died of brain cancer in July 2015.
