Chaplaplat
This lazy cat likes to spend its days lying on its back and wagging its tail. In all confidence, it shows you its little belly while waiting for your caresses.
Its particularity: its tail made flexible thanks to an aluminum wire.
The chaplaplat is a small model that is quick to make, but will make you use many techniques related to the making of amigurumis. Learn how to make an oval start, how to use wire to make a part flexible, how to decorate safety eyes with felt etc…
This tutorial (PDF-file of 13 pages) is entirely illustrated with photos and will explain in detail all the necessary steps to create this cat. It also includes tutorials on the basic amigurumi techniques (invisible decrease, color change, invisible fasten off, etc…).
DIFFICULTY: suitable for beginners, but maybe not for your very first amigurumi.
You will need know: single crochet, slip stitch, chain stitch

SIZE of the finished amigurumi: around 20cm (10cm for the body + 10cm for the tail) with a 2.25mm (US 1) crochet hook.
SUPPLY LIST
- Crochet hook: 2.25mm (US 1)
- Fingering yarn in two colors (for example: Hobbii Rainbow Cotton 8/4)
- 2 safety eyes Ø 6mm
- Fiberfill stuffing
- Approximately 40cm of aluminum wire (1 or 1.5mm diameter), cutting pliers and flat pliers
- Black or white embroidery thread (for the face)
- Yarn needle and sewing needle
- Stitch marker, scissors, pins
- Optional: some white felt, strong glue
