Elegant cables adorn both sides of the gently tapered bag surrounding an eye-catching twisted motif, designed to give pleasure to both knitter and bearer alike. The two sides of the bag (knitted flat and seamed, for strength) are knitted identically using two strands of 4ply to create a denser fabric which, when lined with fabric of your choice, creates a truly stunning piece.

Cable cast on, knit, purl, decreasing stitches and knitting with cables.

Rowan Pure Wool 4ply (4ply-weight; 100% wool; 136m/174 yards; 50g) x2

Please note that this yarn has been discontinued. Possible substitutes include Rowan Wool Cotton 4ply (cotton 50%, merino wool 50%;180m/197yards; 50g) x2.

4.5mm/US size 7 needle for working back and forth (straight or circular, whichever you prefer)
Cable needle
Darning needle (plus all your usual knitting accessories e.g. row counter, scissors).

Lining fabric (approx. 40cm x 114cm is plenty!)
