Charlie's Cardigan
The Charlie’s Cardigan design is built directly into CustomFit, which means that each Charlie’s Cardigan pattern is written specifically to your choice of gauge and size.
Charlie’s Cardigan is a kinda-sporty, kinda-preppy crew neck cardigan that slips quietly into wardrobe heavy rotation. It looks good with button-downs and a skirt, and is equally at home with a long-sleeved T and your favorite pair of jeans. Its lace chevron pattern is interesting to knit and looks great, but isn’t so eye-catching that your whole outfit has to be about the sweater.
It’s worked in pieces from the bottom up, and then seamed. (If you’re using a rustic, woolenspun yarn like the one shown - and I highly recommend that you do - be sure to have some smooth yarn on hand for seaming.) Edges are worked in 1x1 ribbing, and the lace detail is worked on the fronts only.
I made this sample in Swans Island All-American Worsted, a stunning, soft, lofty worsted-weight woolen-spun yarn. It looks and feels incredible, and I strongly recommend it for this sweater. I used the color “Granite”.
(One quick note on yardage in CustomFit patterns - the yardage requirements listed here are based on my preferred gauge for the recommended yarn. And while I’ve given approximate quantities for standard size sweaters, CustomFit will make your pattern in the size and gauge of your choice. It’s pretty tough to give yardage requirements for any possible combination! If you’re not using the recommended yarn, and/or you’re not a standard size, I recommend Hannah Fettig’s amazing app, stashbot, to get a sense of your yardage requirements.)
