An easy introduction to lace knitting. This is a versatile style that can be made in lace weight, 4ply, sport or double knit yarn. Different weight give a different look, feel and size the the finish shawl.
Knitted from the top centre downwards and outwards, the pattern is easily adapted to different quantities of yarn.
Lace weight takes a 50gram skein, 4ply/sport weight takes anywhere between 100-140 grams and DK 175-200 grams
There are gauges given for each weight of yarn.
The pattern was designed while at charlies gelato garden in Matakana, New Zealand, hence the name.
