Charlotte Shawl
2017 Sunshine Charlotte Designs CAL

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, so of course, this month’s shawl honors my beautiful Charlotte. She would have turned 3 this month, so I’m pleased to publish my most advanced pattern for her.

This shawl pattern is written for the intermediate - advanced crocheter. The use of front- and back-post stitches, both double and treble, create the beautiful cabled stitches, which are broken up with strips of shell-like patterns. While the 10-row repeat requires focus, this pattern is written in an accessible way, so those of you trying to challenge yourself can follow along!

The Charlotte Shawl is the September installment of the 2017 Sunshine Charlotte Designs Crochet ALong, which features a different shawl pattern each month. This year’s CAL projects are meant to be donated to a local children’s hospital - specifically a cancer ward - so they can be handed out to mothers who suffer the pain of watching their child be ill. I design and donate these shawls in memory of my daughter Charlotte, who died of brain cancer in July 2015.
