To celebrate the release of the patterns for the Charm Socks and the matching Charm Hat, both patterns are 20% through November 15th, and you can buy both for £5.50.

I like to think of knitting as it’s own kind of spellwork, and these socks prove that. The simple, repetitive pattern creates such a plush, squishy fabric (especially if you choose an alpaca blend yarn like I did) and the process of knitting them is downright addictive. It truly feels like magic.

The Charm Socks are knit cuff down, beginning with a mock cable cuff that keeps the fit snug, then the stitch pattern begins in the round. You can choose between a heel flap and gusset or a German short row construction, then between a wedge toe and barn toe for a perfect, customized fit.

Sizes
Small: 15cm/6in
Medium: 18cm/7in
Large: 20.5cm/8in

Gauge
36 stitches x 40 rows per 10cm/4in on 2.25mm needles in stockinette, or size required to meet gauge.

Yarn
Fingering weight – 70-100g.

The sample is knit in Lang Alpaca Soxx in the color 0109. If you are using a yarn that doesn’t have alpaca, your sock might turn out slightly smaller than listed above, but you can mitigate this by going up a needle size.

Needles
The pattern is written using small circulars and the magic loop method, but can be worked using double pointed needles, depending on your preference. You’ll need 2.25mm needles, or size required to meet gauge.

Notions
Tapestry needle
Stitch markers (2-4 recommended)
Scissors
Sock blockers (optional)
