Chasing Daylight
Chasing Daylight embodies the essence of time’s golden hour. As the sun’s warmth wanes, its rays stretch across the landscape, casting a soft glow. Each stitch of the shawl captures that fleeting magic—the warmth against your skin, the whisper of dusk, and the promise of another day. It’s a wearable ode to seizing the moment, squeezing every drop of light from the day before twilight claims it.
This asymmetrical triangle begins with a keyhole to secure the tail at your shoulder as you race against the sun. The shawl is worked in two contrasting colors of sport weight yarn, each in a different stitch pattern; alternating stripes of garter stitch and elongated stitches let that last bit of sunlight through. A contrasting applied I‑cord wraps around the entire shawl for a grand finish.
Sample used about 354 yd. (324 m)/108 g of Callback in
Shot in the Dark and 216 yd. (198 m)/66 g in Sweet Cheeks.
Note: Skeins used for sample were 8-10 g heavier than the put-up listed on the label. Pattern is adaptable to the amount of yarn available.
Choose colors with good contrast. Use a black & white filter on your phone to help. The I-cord will look best in a tonal or solid colorway.
Optional: If you’d like to use a third color for the I‑cord trim, about 66 yd. (60 m)/20 g is required.
