Chasing Rainbows
Inspired by rainbows that stretch in a full arch across the sky, this simple shawl is created using wedge shaping, stripes, and purl bumps.
Alternating two skeins of yarn - a solid and a highly variegated - this shawl showcases hand painted yarn. Great for using bright skeins of sock yarn!
The colorway “Kansas” was dyed specifically for this shawl – the bit of rainbow in the variegation is used as a template for creating an interestingly random texture.
The pattern includes 2 different versions of this shawl - one knit in DK weight and one knit in fingering weight.
Sizing:
DK Weight: 47” long by 16.5” deep.
Fingering Weight 59” long by 20.5” deep.
Gauge:
DK Weight: 9 stitches = 2 inches in stockinette stitch. Fingering Weight: 12 stitches = 2 inches in stockinette stitch.
With simple techniques and the yarn doing most of the work Chasing Rainbows is quick and fun to knit!
