GENERAL INFORMATION
This versatile cowl is crafted in the round, showcasing an eye-catching combination of garter stitch and lace knitting. With a unique design structure, the pattern is written for a single main colour to highlight the lace sections and eight contrast colours to form the garter stitch sections—though you’re welcome to reverse the colour roles for a different look.
The lace stitch pattern introduces a subtle ripple effect, adding both texture and movement to the cowl. This ripple means that a flexible cast-on and bind-off are essential, ensuring that the piece has enough stretch to accommodate the effect and comfortably slip over your head.
You can modify the circumference by adding or removing one stitch pattern repeat (18 sts, approximately 9 cm / 3½ inches). You can modify the length by adding or removing one vertical repeat (one lace and one garter section, approximately 5 cm / 2 inches). Just keep in mind that changing the number of sts or repeats will impact your total yarn requirements.
