A pretty, toe-up lace sock designed to look like Chautauqua Lake.

Chautauqua is in western New York and is one of my favorite places in the world. My mom grew up in near-by Jamestown, so we’ve visited there many times.

“Chautauqua” means bag tied in the middle. There’s a narrow point (Bemis Point) where there’s a ferry and a bridge.

The stitch pattern is formed with lace and slipped stitches. There are two design alternatives for the back of the sock, and a garter and lace cuff.

Yardage approx. 360 (380, 400) yds
