Che Bella
A simple shawl pattern for Beginning knitters. The pattern is mostly garter stitch and stocking stitch with ONE row of a simple lace design that lifts the garment out of the ordinary and results in a pretty, easy to throw on shawl or scarf. You can use any weight yarn and any needles as gauge doesn’t matter; the thicker the yarn and the bigger the needles – the bigger the shawl.
Yarn: DK shawl – 200g of MC and 60-80g for the CC
4 ply shawl – 100g of MC and 40-60g for the CC
Needles: I use a 4mm for the 4 ply and a 5.5mm for the DK, BUT it is totally up to you. The bigger the needles, the softer, fluffier the shawl.
Abbreviations:
CC – contrast colour
K – knit
K2tog – knit two stitches together
KFB – knit stitch as normal through the front loop, do NOT take off the needle. Instead, knit the same stitch through the back loop and THEN take it off the needles as usual. C – main colour
P – purl
PSSO – pass the two slipped stitches over the stitch you have just knitted
SL2 – slip two stitches as if you are going to knit them (with yarn and needles in the KNIT position)
YO – yarn over the needle (in this case, position the yarn as if you are going to do a purl stitch)
