Cheap Thrills shawl
I love cheap thrills! Initially, I created this garter stitch shawl for a KAL. During August 2021 we knit this pattern together and I was absolutely thrilled seeing people thriving with it, healing with it and enjoying our craft – again – so much!
Construction
This shawl is meant to be easily made. Garter Stitch and the repetition of only 6 rows again and again, will give you a chance to start small, built momentum and create something you will love to wear.
The sideways construction is worked flat from the left tip to the right edge. The main color and contrast color 1 are worked in a 2:1 ratio to build up a harmonious striped pattern.
The bind-off is made with an i-cord edge and adds a sophisticated border.
This project is meant to be made from your stash. Use whatever you have and feels right together. There is no right or wrong for this project when it comes to fiber content.
You can adjust the size. Knit this shawl as small or as large as you like to.
Special techniques
The texture of this shawl is essentially created with the garter stitch and some increases (kfbf) and decreases (k2tog).
The i-cord bind-off is the most challenging part of this pattern.
For those, who need to learn this techniques, video tutorials are provided in the pattern.
Needles
one circular needle in size 3.5 mm (US 4)
(A long circular needle is recommended in order to accommodate the large number of stitches as the shawl grows.)
