Chebeague Island Fisherman's Wet Mittens
by Robin Hansen
The book says, “It can’t be stressed enough that this pattern makes a huge mitten, which must be shrunk in hot salt water and dried, for example, on a radiator, at least once to be at all usable. The mitten is designed to be used wet, in salt water, by fishermen. The salt and the repeated soaking continue the shrinking process. Don’t be disappointed if they don’t shrink to size first time!”
