This vest accompanies the Skill Building article that discusses how to seam K1P1 ribbing. The bottom of the sweater is ribbed, and since the stitch pattern alternates between reverse stockinette and cables, you will get lots of practice seaming columns of stockinette to reverse stockinette.

The construction is very simple. The front and back are identical. Both the neckline and armholes are square with mitered corners for the bands.

While visiting Brooklyn Tweed at the retreat in Portland in November 2021, I picked up some skeins of Loft and Peerie, and I’ve put a lot of thought into what to design. Since they have similar expected gauges, I thought it would be fun to work two samples for this vest to show the difference yarn choice can make to final results. Loft is woolen-spun which results in a lofty, air-trapping yarn while Peerie is worsted-spun which results in a smooth and dense yarn which produces fabric with wonderful drape and lovely stitch definition.
