Checkerboard Flower Pillow
My Checkerboard Flower Pillow is composed of small granny squares. I found this Berroco Pima Soft yarn at a local yarn store, and I knew I wanted to make a pillow with it. I have had a little bit of an obsession with tiny granny squares lately, so I made this simple pattern. The centers of the squares are composed of popcorn stitches and after I made them, I realized that they look a lot like flowers! The back side is simply composed of rows of stitches, and five buttons hold it together, so the pillowcase can be taken on and off of the insert.
Any DK weight yarn will work for this pattern. I used Berroco Pima Soft: 3 rouge, 1 crepe, 1 daisy, 1 shortbread, and 1 ocean. Additionally, you will need 5 buttons (1.5 cm in diameter) and a 12 by 20 in (30.5 by 50.8 cm) pillow insert. The pattern includes some pictures to explain the steps. I hope you enjoy the pattern!
