Keep warm in this sumptuous hat, perfect for a cold snowy day. It has a slouchy fit and the faux cables are created with knit and purl stitches. You don’t need to know how to cable! It is fabulous with your favorite furry pom.

To make this hat you will need to know how to knit, purl, and k2tog as well as work in the round with either double pointed needles or magic loop as the hat gets smaller.

Yarn: The model used approximately 140 yards of Blue Sky Fibers Extra Aran in Butter Cream (yummy!). The pattern can be done in your favorite chunky or aran weight yarn. I recommend something with a bit of a halo or softness like baby alpaca to give it a rich feel but it will look good with any yarn you prefer.

Needles and needs: You will need size 7 (US) circular needles in 16 inch for brim and size 9 circular needles for main body. Use size 9 dpn’s for crown decrease or you can magic loop if you prefer. Use a special stitch marker to mark the end of round. I also recommend placing markers every ten stitches to note the pattern sections. And a tapestry needle for weaving in ends.

Notions: Make a pompom or buy your favorite furry pom for the top. The model uses a Rowan pompom in Fox Cream which is removable so that you can wash your hat.
