This is a great pattern if you want a semi-solid blanket. Beautiful, lacy hearts and nice solid squares to give it some substance. This pattern is easy and fun to do and works up very quickly! It is great for a baby blanket, lapghan, throw for the couch, rectangle wrap, bed runner, or even a scarf!

This pattern is worked flat and has a 12 row repeat. The solid squares and lacy squares alternate to form a checkered pattern. The instructions include a built in border as well as an additional decorative border you can add if you want to. The instructions are for the pink rectangle blanket. You can adjust your project to whatever width and height you want. Use any yarn and corresponding hook you want.

I made a “square” blanket without the extra border. I used 2 complete skeins of Caron Simply Soft in blue. It measures 33” wide by 31” tall.
The rectangle blanket used 2 ½ - 3 skeins of Caron Simply Soft in pink and measures 34.5” wide and 39” tall.
