Checkered Shawl
I love stripes, don’t get me wrong, but I wanted to push myself beyond my usual go-to of garter ridge and stockinette stitch stripes. These four colors sat on my work table for a couple of months while ideas percolated.
And now we have bands of color and texture highlighting this top-down triangular shawl.
The finished measurements after blocking are:
Wingspan: approximately 44”
Center back length: approximately 17”
While gauge is not crucial, it will affect the overall size of the finished shawl, as will using a heavier or lighter weight yarn.
The pattern is written, not charted and is for Intermediate knitters: experience with stranded colorwork is helpful. As the center and edge increases are worked, the new stitches are incorporated into the checker pattern when there are enough stitches to work a full check.
Four colors were used here, but you can certainly add to or limit the number of colors you use, especially if working from stash.
