Checkered Slippers
My mother-in-law had an old pair of slippers that an Aunt had made for her in the 70’s. The fact that they were still intact was a testament to how durable cheap acrylic yarn can be (one of it’s only upsides!). I examined the slippers closely while they warmed my feet, and took notes to recreate this classic pattern.
Materials:
2 colors Worsted Weight Acrylic Yarn (1 skein each)- I recommend 100% acrylic because it wears better than wool or wool-blends and these slippers are meant to be worn all winter!
MC: Shown in Blue in Men’s, Green in Ladies
CC: Shown in Grey in Men’s, Cream in Ladies
US 9 Needles
Tapestry Needle
Notes:
You are always knitting with one color at a time, but when you switch to the other color, you bring that yarn to front and take the previous yarn to the back. Do not cut the yarn.
