My sample took three balls of yellow and less than one ball of grey. The grey could probably have been a scrap quantity.

I recommend an acrylic yarn for this blanket because it is stockinette with no border, so the ability to permanently steam block the piece flat is valuable; plus babies are messy!

Skills: knitting, purling, vertical stranding, and flat stranding
(stranded colourwork CAN theoretically be done in the round and steeked, but I promise it’s worth it to learn to do it flat for this project. If that’s out of the question there’s always duplicate stitch)

IMPORTANT NOTE: Use a circular needle for this project even though we are working back and forth. This way, when working horizontal grey lines you can slide all your stitches to the other end of the needle and purl a grey row directly after purling a yellow row or knit a grey row directly after knitting a yellow row.
