Cheerful Cardigan
Cheerful cardigan has a very unique, yet exceedingly simple to knit design. Mitered shaping and short-row sleeve caps make this an interesting knit and a gorgeous finished piece.
This cardigan is begun with the lace band, which is mitered at the left and right fronts. Stitches for the yoke are picked up along the inner edge of the band. Stitches for the lower body are picked up along the long lower edge of the band and worked down. After joining the shoulders, stitches for the sleeves are picked up along the armhole edges. The sleeve caps are worked back and forth using short-rows, then joined to work in the round down to the cuff. The collar is picked up and worked in one piece, allowing the bound-off edge to roll. All these steps result in a wonderfully seamless piece.
