Skill Level: Advanced beginner, Intermediate. Not all of the above attributes apply, methods can vary according to skill level or choice.

Description:
A comfortable, adjustable chemotherapy hat/cap embellished with your choice of decorative scarf. Knitted in heavy worsted weight yarn, the hat begins with the garter-stitch band that incorporates evenly spaced buttonhole-type “tabs” (with small openings) that allow the scarf to remain securely in place around the head and not slip. The scarf ends can be left long, tied in a rosette, or woven similar to a braid, to allow the recipient to feel feminine and comfortable. A special pin can be used together with the scarf. In my own situation, having the scarf long on my neck reminded me of when I still had my own hair.

For a hat for a man, knit without the tabs and on slightly larger needles.

Sizes:
Adjustable, using either sizes US# 6-7 needles or US# 7-8 needles. Please note that while experiencing hair loss, a person’s head circumference will be slightly smaller than usual.

Gauge: Adjustable.

About 18 inches of waste yarn if provisional cast on method is chosen.
